What superpower would you like to have?

I’d love to be able to fly or astrologically project so that I could visit every corner of this beautiful Earth that we’ve been gifted by our wonderful Creator.

What are you working on at the minute?

I recently published the first installment of my new book series called “Myra Kemp” and I am currently working on the 2nd instalment from that series, as well as various other projects.

Give us an insight into your main character. What does he/she do that is so special?

Myra Kemp has an extremely vivid imagination and likes to live inside of her head. Therefore, when she needs a break from anything she takes a “vacation” to some place serene or exotic.

What draws you to this genre?

I am an inspired writer, so I write across genres. I have quite a bit of unpublished material including poems, wellness and nutrition.

Which actor/actress would you like to see playing the lead character from your book?

I’d like to see Taraji P. Henson play either my new character Myra or “Grateful Grace” from my second book because she rocks as an actress. Also, Regina King because she’s phenomenal with voiceovers and can portray ANY character – male or female! I believe she could effectively portray every character in the Myra Kemp series! She also rocks as an actress.

What made you decide to sit down and actually start something?

I’ve been writing since I was a little girl. I wrote my first book at eight years old which was a Romance novel. Unfortunately, the manuscript was destroyed in my grandmother’s attic. I was prompted to publish my first book – “Surviving A Toxic Career” – due to my frustration with the last company I worked for before retiring from my corporate career.

Do you write on a typewriter, computer, dictate or longhand? I write using my laptop and longhand.

I’m old-fashioned so while technology is great, I’ve never developed 100% trust for it. It’s much faster to work with my laptop so I do that 80% of the time books that I’m working on, but I also print so that I can have a physical copy.

What is the hardest thing about writing?

For me, writing is easy because it’s in my DNA. I guess the hardest part is shutting my mind down, so I can get some sleep. And of course, writer’s block when I’m focused on writing something specific. In those instances, I walk away and move on to the next thing.

For your own reading, do you prefer ebooks or traditional paper/hard back books?

I prefer paper and hard-bound. As I mentioned earlier I’m old-fashioned, so I like physical copies for my library.

Which social network works best for you?

It varies but I tend to get more engagement on Instagram relative to writing creatively or any marketing regarding my books.

How do you relax?

I meditate a lot. I also like spending time in nature – whether it be sitting out on my back deck, taking a nature walk or enjoying the sound of the Ocean at the beach. I also love to exercise as an escape. A full-body massage is always nice too!! 😊
